Static vs Dynamic Content, Explained

Understand when to use fixed (static) text vs product-driven (dynamic) variables, and see how each behaves when you switch products in preview.

  1. These placeholder images are displayed when no product is selected in the preview.
  2. When "Use product media" is enabled, the carousel will display images from the Brand Cloud uploaded via Data Sync.
  3. To see the images displayed in the carousel, click on "Ivory Tailored Suit" to select this product variant. Note: You can preview this experience with any product available in the Brand Cloud.
  4. Once the preview is set to a specific product, the carousel will automatically display images from the Brand Cloud. **This is dynamic content.**
  5. Click the X button to close the preview with Ivory Tailored Suit.
  6. Since the product was deselected, the preview now displays the default text "Tappr Cozy". This means the text is **dynamic**.
  7. When the rich text editor is opened, you can add dynamic content such as "product.title" or "product.short_description" and many more. These are variables that pull values from the Brand Cloud.
  8. Click on "Ivory Tailored Suit" again to select this product variant.
  9. The variables automatically update with values from the Brand Cloud.
  10. Click the X button to close the preview with Ivory Tailored Suit.
  11. This text contains both **static and dynamic content**. You can combine them in the same field.
  12. When the rich text editor is opened, you can add static text such as "The world of", or dynamic variables such as "product.brand". If you duplicate this page and assign a different brand, the dynamic content will automatically update using data from the Brand Cloud, while the static text will remain the same.
  13. Click on "Ivory Tailored Suit" again to select this product variant.
  14. This preview shows that the product.brand variable automatically changes to the name of the brand.
  15. This is static content. ###
  16. When the rich text editor opens, you can see the static text that was added.
