Record how much a product weighs and what share of that weight each component accounts for, so material composition can be reported by weight as well as by percentage.
A Total product weight field in grams appears at the top of the components list on two surfaces — the supplier's assessment and the product's Bill of Material tab. Each component gets a weight percentage, and the system derives that component's weight in grams automatically.
The total can be pre-filled by you before the assessment, in which case the supplier sees it, or entered by the supplier; on acceptance it is saved onto the product. A product with no weight of its own shows the weight of the style it belongs to, marked Inherited, which can be overridden or reverted.
This needs to be switched on for your account. Existing products were populated where a legacy weight value was already present. Automated product feeds do not yet write weight into the new field, so products arriving through them have weight entered via the assessment or the Bill of Material tab for now.
