Faster product passports on mobile

Shoppers opening a passport download only the code they need, so passports paint faster and reach interactive content sooner — with the biggest gains on slower mobile networks.

Measured across three production storefronts: bundle size down 36%, time to content down 25–29%, and time to experience down 24–31% where load time is dominated by code rather than imagery.

Loading is smoother too, with a single coherent paint rather than an empty layout that fills in. Embedded views render quicker because they skip authentication that does not apply to them.

Storefronts heavy with imagery will see less of a change from this alone; that is a separate piece of work on the asset pipeline. Two things to note: embedded pages inside a host store use the host store's consent layer rather than ours, and the Instagram feed now shows image content only, loads in around 300ms, and displays up to 15 posts.
