Full PPWR data, documents and review on packaging

The packaging form now covers the full PPWR set. The packaging itself carries a name, type of component, batch or lot code, packaging type (single-use or reusable) and the date it was first sold in the EU, with the paperwork retention period shown automatically — five years for single-use, ten for reusable.

Weight and size covers outer dimensions, the weight of one unit, inside and outside volume, wall thickness (which flags lightweight carrier bags) and why the packaging is not smaller. A facility is now required, including the supplier's own.

Chemical safety asks for the heavy-metals test report when the answer is within the limit, or the EU derogation when it is not. Food-contact packaging is always asked for a PFAS test report, plus the total fluorine value when PFAS is not within limits. Substances of concern are recorded by name, CAS number and concentration.

Recyclability covers the collection and sorting stream, recycled content, and whether the packaging meets all three design-for-recycling criteria — answered Yes, No or Not sure. On No, the supplier ticks which criteria are not met.

Documents upload and save immediately, up to 25 MB, with no issuer or date needed, and each is tagged Heavy metals, PFAS or a free type such as a technical data sheet. “I don't have this document” can be ticked without blocking submission, and the document can still be added after the assessment is submitted.

On your side, Library → Packaging shows every PPWR field and document with a Missing filter, a completeness score reading “X% complete · N of M fields” that lists what is still missing on hover, and archiving straight from the list. In assessment review, the packaging name links to the full record so evidence can be checked before accepting. Duplicating a record copies its documents and substances.

Packaging counts and weights now use the product quantities the supplier enters when purchase order lines carry none, so orders that previously showed no packaging units get correct figures. Existing certificates move to the new document format automatically, and packaging documents no longer appear among a product's public certificates. Suppliers must pick a facility and answer the design-for-recycling question before saving, so records saved earlier without a facility will ask for one on the next edit.
